Soil and Soul by Alistair MacIntosh - I'm in the middle of it at the moment, and it's already the best book I've ever read...

Gotta admit it. I was wondering what all the craze was, so I grabbed the first Harry Potter book when I saw it in the kids' section while at the library with Olivia. It was delightful! What a surprise! Also on a Hermann Hesse kick. Highly recommend Siddhartha.

I just read The Mermaid's Chair by Monk Kidd in two nights. Delicious. I second the Owen Meany above, and I'm about to start a David Sedaris about dressing your family in corduroy and something... it's supposed to be hilarious. My choices aren't very up-to-the-minute, but you never know what people have gotten around to reading. :)
