happy father's day.

perhaps i'll add more photos later today, if i am inspired to fire up the scanner, but here's a photo i saw for the first time only recently, when my cousin tom sent it via email. it's a strange feeling to see an image of your father as a young man for the first time, especially when you think you have seen them all before. the image is surreal; he's a stranger, a handsome young man, and my father. and there's my mother on his arm: everything was a beginning then. i wonder how they wondered their lives would be. and, of course, i wonder what it would be like to see my father now. as i am. as he would be.
