active!
day off, hooray!
instead of lounging around the house all day, thinking about ways to spend the day until the day was over and i'd done nothing, i got my ass out of the house.
after a very productive session of therapy, i hopped on my bike and headed over to rio rita for lunch. though i thoroughly enjoy my fabulous bike, and riding around the hood, today was a bitch. 95 degrees. humid. sun beating down on thick asphalt. no.wind. i had to stop twice. i wasn't out of breath, my legs were awake and happy, but i was completely overheated. i saw spots. my peripheral vision went away. and so i sat and cooled myself off before coasting the rest of the way to rio rita, at which point i took this picture. meh.
when helen finished her class, she biked over and met me. yay! we spent the afternoon munching and beveraging, before biking home together on what was a much cooler ride.
and then! we walked the dogs around the hood, up and down the hilly streets. we fended off the ubiquitous roaming dogs with helen's loud and scary "GO! HOME! GO! HOME!" *shiver* she can be very intimidating. all the neighborhood kids wanted to pet our panting, slobbery dogs, and when we recommended they didn't, they all ran circles around the pups, squealing with summer vacation enthusiasm.
"i love our neighborhood," helen said. i smiled, and continued to practice my cesar millan moves on clem, aka willonlyheelwhenatthefrontofthepack.
and now, i'm enjoying a beer, as the dogs are sacked out at my feet. a good day off.
